PrEP – The Newest HIV Prevention Tool
PrEP is a new tool that helps prevent HIV.
If you’re HIV-negative, PrEP (a.k.a. Pre-exposure prophylaxis) can help protect you from getting infected. This is done by taking one pill every day. PrEP contains some of the same medicines used to keep the virus under control in people who are already living with HIV. It is an additional tool for people to consider in their HIV prevention toolbox.
PrEP may be right for you if:
You are a human :)
Your current HIV status is negative.
If one or more of these statements applies to you:
I have anal sex without using a condom.
I have a partner who is HIV positive.
My relationship is not mutually monogamous.
I have been diagnosed with an STD in the last 6 months.
I don’t use condoms and I have a partner who is at substantial risk for HIV because of injection drug use or has anal sex without using a condom.
I inject drugs and share injection equipment with others.
I exchange sex for money, drugs, or other things that I need.
I am in an IPV (intimate partner violence) or DV (domestic violence) relationship
