The Southwest Center’s Transgender Resource and Navigation Service (TRANS) Program seeks to increase access to high-quality care and support for transgender and gender non-conforming members of our community.
Our TRANS Program currently includes peer health navigation, HIV resources, stigma-free behavioral health counseling, and primary care, including hormone therapy initiation and management. Our Transgender Health Navigator offers guidance to individuals seeking various forms of support, such as assistance with navigating insurance coverage and changing names and/or gender markers on official documents. Additionally, they provide referrals to other resources available on site at the Southwest Center and at our partner organizations.
As the TRANS Program grows, we plan to to incorporate a safe space, community-based outreach initiatives, peer support, workshops that meet educational needs identified by the trans* community, and other inclusive services.
The Southwest Center’s TRANS Program is designed to empower transgender and gender non-conforming members of our community by helping them navigate the systems necessary to access life-affirming, and often life-saving, health care.
Southwest Center’s TRANS program works to address the structural barriers and widespread discrimination often faced by transgender and gender non-conforming individuals that limit their access to medical care, including primary care and services such as hormone therapy initiation and management.
