Affirming Our Commitment to Culturally Inclusive Healthcare

The Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM) is returning to the Southwest Center (SWC).

July 6, 2022 (Phoenix, Arizona) – The Southwest Center and Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine have a long-standing partnership to support healthcare for their community. Like so many things, COVID impacted the center’s ability to support in-person learning and care, thus pausing the collaboration during the pandemic. However, starting on July 12, 2022, Dr. Carla Briante, NMD, and her student interns will again provide comprehensive and integrative health services two days a week at SWC.

“We are thrilled to have the medical students and staff of SCNM back at our clinic providing naturopathic medical care to our community.  Not only do these services benefit our patients, but it also allows us to share best practices in offering culturally inclusive and reactive healthcare to future providers,” shares Jessyca Leach, Executive Director at SWC. She adds, “We recognize that healthcare is not ‘one-size fits all,’ and our relationship and partnership with the next group of medical professionals affirm our commitment to a holistic set of services available to the community we represent and serve.”

Dr. Joseph Vazquez, Associate Dean of Clinical Education at SCNM, is also excited about this opportunity, "we are happy to be back at Southwest Center not only to provide impactful healthcare to the community but also to create meaningful learning opportunities for both patients and students.”

SCNM will offer established SWC clients, primary and adjunctive care, including lifestyle counseling, acupuncture, cupping, physical medicine, and more that are free to low cost. The Wellness Team at the SWC will work closely with the SCNM to provide complete, holistic care to their clients. Established SWC clients can call 602.307.5330 to schedule an appointment.
